join the detour (network)!
Thank you for your interest in joining the detour network. The detour offers original stations that provide original content. Each of the stations is independent, commercial free, and offer a diverse lineup of programming. If you have an interesitng idea for a station and want help getting it going, you've come to the right place! The detour (network) is open to new and existing stations that are independently operated and provide a unique listening experience to the listener.
Before going any futher, are you sure that you are wanting to start a radio station or a radio show? Starting a radio station which broadcasts 24/7 takes quite a bit of time and resources. Doing a radio show is a lot simpler. If you are looking to get on the radio a few times a week without having to worry about many technical/licensing details, then click here to find out more information on doing a radio show through one of the detour (network) stations.
The detour (network) provides the consulting and technical support (free of charge) to help bring your broadcasting idea to life. As we are a network of stations and buy in bulk, many required costs are available to member stations at a reduced price. As all of the current members of the detour (network) are required to do, you will be required to pay for: 1.) your internet connection, 2.) streaming server, 3.) royalty payments, 4.) content (music, etc), and 5.) automation software (optional). Although this may seem like quite a bit, it actually costs around $40/month for a new station. The detour will provide the necessary training to pull all of these compontents together (the detour (network) profits NOTHING off of assisting member stations.
Remember that you will continue to have full control over your station and ideas. The detour (network) will never interfere with the actual content of your station, but help you to make those ideas a reality (through technical support and consulting). Remember that it will be YOUR station and require your attention on a daily basis!
