Today we received a message from a listener stating that they had filed a FCC complaint against the station. They also forged another person's name directing us to stop using the call letters and frequency of the station.
To this person and any other people that continue to put in FCC complaints regarding our transmitter. We use a FCC approved part 15 transmitter to broadcast at each of our sites. Part 15 allows unlicensed broadcasts at a very small range. Part 15 are legal! We are using unused portions of the spectrum in the Appalachia region. We have made sure that we are at least 3 adjacent channels away from any other local stations. We are not infringing on other stations, nor breaking any laws. We have been broadcasting for 3 years using our part 15 transmitters around the area, and have yet to hear one thing from the FCC. There have been complaints filed against us for years now, and we are still around.
The person that contacted us also stated that we should contact them regarding the complaint. They referred us to their contact information included in the complaint, failing to directly give us their phone or e-mail. We are unable to access FCC complaints, as they are not public record. Should you feel the need to contact us, please use any one of 4 possible ways of contacting us. We provide 3 good working numbers, several e-mail addresses, and even a convenient
contact page where all you have to do is fill in your information, and we will be glad to return your call. Be sure to include an e-mail or phone number if you'd like a response.
We are not intimidated when someone tells us that a FCC complaints was filed against us. If we were running a pirate station, then that would be different. Again, we are complying with part 15 rules. We are also a legal internet radio station paying royalties to the artists and songwriters that we play. We are not hiding. I have published both phone numbers and addresses, but all of the contact that I ever receive seems to be anonymous. We have even made message boards should you feel the need to remain anonymous. Do you think that if we were doing something illegal that we would provide direct addresses and phone numbers for people to contact us?
I am curious why we continue to have so many people around here taking the time to submit complaints against our station. Are they intimidated by the fact that we have grown into a media powerhouse in the Tri-Cities, featuring 4 commercial free independently programmed radio stations? We have a worldwide audience, being selected to be featured in both the iTunes Radio and Windows Media Guide. We have over 12 original hosts from around the region. We have created a unique radio product that rivals anything else that is being done in the Tri-Cities. We are on top of most Google results when it comes to radio in the Tri-Cities area. We are giving the Appalachia region a voice for the entire world to hear!
The bottom line is...keep sending your complaints to the FCC. Do you really think you will shut us down? We are here to stay. We have been here since 2005...and not going anywhere.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Part_15
