State of Franklin Radio Director
The State of Franklin Radio Network is looking for a volunteer director to help coordinate radio shows and live performances originating from the Acoustic Coffeehouse in Johnson City, TN. This person must be easily available by phone/e-mail and have at least 5 extra hours a week. The person must also have basic knowledge of Windows and Macs. Although not required, it is recommended that the person have experience with sound boards and basic audio editing. A few of the responsibilities include:

1. assisting other State of Franklin Radio hosts with technical and programming problems;
2. verifying that broadcasting equipment is setup and ready to go for live performances;

Broadcast Engineers

The State of Franklin Radio Network is looking for volunteer broadcast engineers to help monitor live performances originating from the Acoustic Coffeehouse in Johnson City, TN. This person’s primary responsibility will be to monitor the sound levels of a live performance and verify that the connection to the station is uninterrupted. If there is a problem, proper troubleshooting will be done. Basic Mac and Windows knowledge required. It is also recommended that the person has basic knowledge of a sound board. This time required for this position is dependent upon the amount of performances the engineer signs up for. Each performance lasts between 1 and 5 hours.

Broadcast Monitors
The detour is looking for volunteer broadcast monitors to monitor the quality of live broadcasts on the listener’s end. Because the internet is so fragile, live broadcasts will sometimes experience problems. Basic Windows knowledge is required. High speed internet is also required. This job can be done from anywhere, as long as the person is able to listen to the detour. This time required for this position is dependent upon the amount of performances/shows the monitor signs up for. Each performance/show lasts between 1 and 5 hours. The primary responsibilities include:

1. Relaying to the broadcast engineer/radio host if a problem arises.
2. Troubleshooting broadcast problems by remotely connecting to station.
3. Making sure that entire broadcast is monitored and that you are tuned in at the time the broadcast begins.

Music Director
The detour is looking for a volunteer music director to assist with managing our music library. This includes adding new music and recruiting new artists to submit music. This person is required to appreciate all kinds of music including country, rap, rock, reggae, indie, pop, alternative, folk, bluegrass, etc. We are looking for a person that has a music obsession. Basic Windows knowledge is required.

Radio Host
The detour/State of Franklin Radio are looking for a volunteer radio hosts to do their own shows! Whatever kind of show you want to do, we want you! Want to do a music show? No matter what kind of music interests you, we invite you to get on the air. Interested in doing a talk show? Great! We have a phone line and several online tools to make it easy for you to have an interactive show. Don’t have your own music? No problem! We have a music library of over 12,000 songs that’s available for any host to take advantage of.

News/Commentary Writer
The detour is wanting to start a progressive news section on our web site, www.thedetour.us … we are looking for people that may be interested in occasionally writing news stories or commentary for this new section. We would like an emphasis on local issues, but will not require this. If you have a lot on your mind and interested in getting it out, then this position is for you!

<!--Radio Hosts -> The radio host...the heart and soul of the station. We love to have new radio hosts on the air. You can use your own music or use ours. Want to do a talk show? We have phone lines where you can take a call on the air! In many situations, a person can do their show right from their own home! (We are technologically advanced like that.) Radio hosts can play and say whatever they want. The radio show is totally in your control. Want to take phone calls from listeners? No problem! We offer free technical support and training to those that want to do a show! All positions are volunteer. 2 "Voice Reader" People -> Do you have a voice? Can you speak any language spoken on Earth? If so, we want you! We are looking for a couple of people to record our promos (so we don't have to hear aaron's horrible voice all of the time). This volunteer position takes just a litle bit of time each week, and no experience is necessary. Please click here to contact us if you're interested!

Station Monitors -> The detour needs to be monitored 24/7 to make sure that it's always available. If you sit around with the detour on most of the tiem, then this position is for you! We train each station monitor on how to recover the station (in the event it crashes) and how to fix more serious problems. This volunteer position requires that you commit to listening to the detour during a certain time slot(s) each week, and then fixing/alerting station staff in the event that something goes wrong. 1 Sound Engineer -> Are you familiar with sound and how to make it "sound" best? We are looking for a volunteer to help us tweak and maintain the best sounding "sound" that we can. Interested? Click here to contact us!

1 Music Director -> Do you have a love for music? We are looking for a person that wants to help manage our music library. We constantly are receiving music submissions from bands, but ususally takes forever for us to get it on the air. The music director is in charge of ripping submitted CD's, recommending music we should get, and recruiting new bands to submit music to us. 1 Freedom of Religion Radio Director -> Freedom of Religion Radio is looking for a volunteer to help manage the religious programming the block on Sunday afternoons/evenings. This person will have full control over this programming block (as long as it conforms to the mission of StudentFaith.com radio).
