Welcome to the detour network!

The detour is a network of four non-commercial radio stations. Each station features a wide range of musical styles and opinions. Each station is ran with a "community access" approach. We allow anyone anywhere interested in getting on the radio the opportunity to do so. While we primarily focus on serving the East Tennessee region, we also make our broadcasts available to the entire world through the internet. Presently, the detour features four stations: detour MUSIC, detour TALK, detour BLUES, and State of Franklin Radio. The detour network is a member of the Noncorporate Radio Network.

detour MUSIC (our flagship station) is a free form radio station dedicated to taking away the boundaries that have been created in music. No matter if it’s indie or main stream, we play it all: alternative, rap, country, reggae, pop, bluegrass, techno, blues, new age, jazz, oldies, 80s, and more! Whatever we are in the mood for, we play it. Requests are always welcome by using requestNOW! or e-mailing the radio host. We give complete control of the station to the radio host. There is no program director...only complete and total freedom for not only the radio host, but also the listener! As part of our mission to broaden a listener's musical taste, every host is encouraged to play a variety of musical styles and genres (both main stream and independent). Rather than segregating music into limited boxes, this philosophy is an attempt to entertain the listener while broadening their musical experience. Specialized original and international shows will leave you wondering what you’ll be hearing next. For a complete schedule of detour MUSIC, click here.

detour TALK focuses on progressive and independent talk programming. The station features a wide range of shows that deal with everything from politics to health, technology to environmental issues. Local programming is also featured, giving the host freedom of speech to say whatever they wish. Send your opinions in by shooting a message to the host, or call in! Several shows allow you to express your own opinions..so tune in and participate! For a complete schedule of detour TALK, click here.

detour BLUES features handpicked selection of all styles of blues from worldwide artists both small & large. All styles of blues are featured, with requests and dedications taken. Check out www.detourblues.com for more information.

State of Franklin Radio features live music and original programming from the Acoustic Coffeehouse in Johnson City, TN. Tune in each evening for a live performance from an indie artist. Click here for a schedule of upcoming performers (in the right column of the site).

We are affiliated with the Pacifica Radio Network, bringing you great shows like Democracy Now and Exploration on detour TALK.

We can be heard in a limited capacity on 105.3 (WETX-P15) in a few parts of Johnson City (around W. Walnut & downtown), Bristol, and Kingsport...or just tune in online!! (Click here on details of how to listen.)
